Weather: Partly cloudy. High of 85. Wind SSE 3-12 mph, gusting to 15 mph. Preferred lies were in effect for round one.    

Suspension summary: Round one was suspended from 12:27 to 1:44 p.m. local time due to rain. Due to darkness, round one was  suspended for the day at 6:32 p.m. with 18 players still needing to complete their rounds. Round one will resume Friday at 7 a.m.,  and round two will begin as originally scheduled at 6:45 a.m.  

Kevin Roy (1st/-10)  

 Cards career-low 18-hole score on TOUR (96 rounds) with a 10-under 62  

 Ties Jhonattan Vegas (R4/2020) for the lowest 18-hole score in Puerto Rico Open history  

 Led all players with 11 birdies; lone bogey came at the 411-yard par-4 eighth hole  

 Making his second career start at the Puerto Rico Open (2023/T33)  

 Should his lead hold, would mark his first career lead/co-lead after any round on TOUR in his 38th career start   In five starts this season, has two top-25 finishes (T18/The American Express, T17/Mexico Open at VidantaWorld)   Currently sits No. 95 in the 2025 FedExCup standings  

 In 37 career starts on TOUR, has totaled six top-25 finishes and one top-10 (T8/2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship)   Earned 2025 PGA TOUR membership by finishing No. 13 on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Points List    

Miscellaneous Notes  

 In his 48th career start on TOUR, Chris Gotterup (2nd/-9) records a career-low 63; his previous best of 64 came in the second  round of the 2024 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, which he went on to win by six strokes  

o As a senior at the University of Oklahoma, Gotterup won the 2022 Puerto Rico Classic collegiate event at Grand  Reserve Golf Club to earn an exemption in the 2022 Puerto Rico Open (finished T7)  

 Making his PGA TOUR debut, Denmark’s Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen sits T3 after a bogey-free 8-under 64; last year, he  earned three victories on the HotelPlanner Tour to earn immediate promotion to the DP World Tour; in six starts on the DP  World Tour this year, he has three top-10 finishes, including one runner-up (Commercial Bank Qatar Masters)

 Davis Riley (T3/-8) cards a first-round bogey-free 64 for the second consecutive week after doing so at last week’s  Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches (finished T48)  

 Karl Vilips (5th/-7) is making the third start of his rookie season on TOUR; Vilips turned professional last year after  graduating from Stanford University; in 10 Korn Ferry Tour starts last season, he recorded seven top-25 finishes, including a  win in his fourth start as a professional (Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank and Intermountain Health)  

 Fourteen players are tied at 6-under (T6), including Thriston Lawrence (6-under thru 14), the highest-ranked player in the  field at No. 63 in the Official World Golf Ranking  

 Garrick Higgo (T6/-6) records a first-round 66 for the second straight year at the Puerto Rico Open (finished T32 in 2024)   Defending champion Brice Garnett opens with a first-round 70 and sits T73
