Change of dates announced for the 2020 FCCA conference and tradeshow

The event at the Puerto Rico Convention District was scheduled for mid-January

(San Juan, Puerto Rico) – The executive director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), Carla Campos and the president of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), Michele Paige, announced today that the joint 2020 FCCA Conference & Tradeshow event scheduled for January 18 to 21, 2021 at the Puerto Rico Convention District has been postponed.

“The joint decision has the intent of maximizing the opportunity that hosting the event provides for Puerto Rico and the global cruise industry. The convention offers excellent opportunities to discuss collaborative solutions between the public and private sectors, regional and international organizations and promotes the forging of alliances in an industry vital to the development of the tourism industry and the economy”, said Campos. “This determination was taken after careful consideration and analysis of the state of the industry; the results and trends of similar conventions held in the past few months; and in order to guarantee we will be able to include all the experiences that make Puerto Rico a world class destination”.

As host of the event, Puerto Rico has the opportunity to showcase all the advantages and beauty the Island holds for cruise lines as well as travelers due to the fact that the yearly event’s agenda includes activities that include local cultural elements as well as tours to different regions and attractions.

The president of the FCCA added, “We are beyond grateful for the efforts of all to ensure this show will go on, especially considering how crucial it will be to gather following the rebirth of cruise tourism,” said Michele Paige, President, FCCA. “This year will not only have added significance for so many throughout our partner destinations who rely on cruise tourism’s economic contribution, but also for anyone who has an interest in doing business with cruise lines – and last year’s record attendance of Member Lines’ presidents and above, as well as the most meetings ever, again displayed the cruise industry’s commitment to the event and its platform for working directly with destinations and stakeholders, along with listening to their needs and understanding how to develop long-term mutual success.”

The new dates will be announced in the upcoming weeks once the global COVID-19 pandemic situation has improved and the results of the new regulations and measures being implemented for travel between domestic and international destinations have been evaluated.
