San Juan, Puerto Rico, Liberty Foundation is making every swing count this year during its 28th annual Golf Invitational Tournament by donating $510,000 to 36 nonprofit organizations in Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands (USVI). The foundation presented the donation during its main fundraising event under the theme Every Swing Counts.

Out of the 36 organizations that received donations this year, 29 provide services in Puerto Rico. They are Adopta Ahora, American Cancer Society Puerto Rico Chapter, Casa Familiar Virgilio Dávila, Casa de Niños Manuel Fernández Juncos, Centro Espibi, Centro para Puerto Rico, Ciencia Puerto Rico, Coordinadora Paz para las Mujeres, Coro de Niños de San Juan, Corporación Milagros del Amor, EcoExploratorio Science Museum of Puerto Rico, Friends of Puerto Rico, Fundación CAP, Fundación Cortés, Hogar Infantil Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús, Hogar Ruth, Hogares Teresa Toda, Jóvenes de Puerto Rico en Riesgo, Kinesis, Make Music Happen, Movimiento para el Alcance de Vida Independiente, Museum of Art of Puerto Rico, Niños de Nueva Esperanza, Para la Naturaleza, Proyecto Matria, Proyecto PECES, Raíces Cyber Organization, Sordos Unidos of Puerto Rico and the United Nations Association-USA, Puerto Rico Chapter.

The remaining seven nonprofits are based in the USVI. They are Boys and Girls Clubs of St. Thomas/St. John, Elevate WI, Family Resource Center, Friends of the VI National Park, Future Jobs Skills of Tomorrow, Lutheran Social Services of the VI, and Y-TEENS VI.

“We chose every swing counts as this year’s theme because every donation counts. There are no small contributions. Every little bit has empowered us to do a lot of good for our communities. This is why we are so grateful for any and all the support that we receive,” stated Giovanna Ramírez de Arellano, Liberty Foundation’s acting president. “Year after year, we have seen what a big difference every contribution makes, and how together we make a significant impact on the lives of underserved communities.”

The donation was presented during the tournament’s Puerto Rican Swing Dinner, which took place recently in Río Grande and was part of a roster of several events organized for the sponsors, collaborators and the representatives of the organizations.

“For the nonprofit sector, 2025 has been especially tough. From a drop in the funds raised through their own initiatives to the partial or even total loss of government support, many organizations have been pushed to their limits,” said Yadira Valdivia, Liberty Foundation’s executive director. “Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, these organizations can keep opening doors and creating opportunities in the areas of education, social well-being and health, art, and environmental protection.”

The foundation will continue to support multiple nonprofit organizations throughout the year with financial contributions and volunteer work. Liberty has been supporting community organizations in Puerto Rico since 1996, when it donated $19,000 for the Hogar San José in Luquillo. Since then, Liberty and Liberty Foundation have donated over $8 million to close to 100 organizations in Puerto Rico and the USVI, including this year’s golf tournament donation.
